More Than a Game
Our son was an early reader. By age two, he was reading bedtime stories to us and joining our Scrabble games. At three, he was writing Haikus – the Japanese poetic artform we both cherished. Imagine receiving a birthday card from a three-year-old with a handwritten poem about a pebble dropped in a pond! True story.
Fast forward many years
Our son was an early reader. By age two, he was reading bedtime stories to us and joining our Scrabble games. At three, he was writing Haikus – the Japanese poetic artform we both cherished. Imagine receiving a birthday card from a three-year-old with a handwritten poem about a pebble dropped in a pond! True story.
Fast forward many years to the Pandemic. It was a horrible time, but it prompted many of us to reassess our lives, prioritize what truly mattered, and find joy in new ways. For me, it became clear that spending quality time with my family was paramount. However, the constant presence of computers and cell phones and the blurred lines between work and home life were significant obstacles (my son was now a teenager!).
One day, our love of Haiku resurfaced somewhat spontaneously. As a family of thoughtful creatives, we started crafting impromptu Haikus inspired by everyday moments – whether a song on the radio, cooking a meal, or washing dishes. It was a hilarious but powerful way to refocus our attention and be present. Most importantly, this ‘game’ fostered a new kind of connection, pulling us away from screens and into the moment. It was a game-changer! There was less mindless scrolling and more meaningful interactions.
What began as a simple, joyful family pastime soon captured the hearts of our friends and extended family. With their encouragement and support, we decided to take our idea to the next level. SnapKu was born from our love of Haiku, spoken word, and other poetic forms, blended with our passion for word and card games. Join us in celebrating creativity, presence, and joy with every moment. SnapKu is a fast-paced word game that blends Haiku with a modern twist for endless fun. With multiple ways to play and win, it's a race against the clock to showcase your quick-witted brilliance!

SnapKu is a fast-paced word game that blends Haiku with a modern twist for endless fun. With multiple ways to play and win, it's a race against the clock to showcase your quick-witted brilliance!
Before we say more about SnapKu, let's talk about Haiku. Haiku is a Japanese poetic art form comprised of 17 syllables organized in three lines containing five, seven, and five syllables, respectively. It doesn't rhyme and expresses the most significant meaning in the fewest words.
While Haiku traditionally evokes images of nature, SnapKu focuses on prompts from one of five categories - here are examples from the Miscellaneous category:
SnapKu Prompt: French Fries

Ketchup mayo or chili

SnapKu is much more than a game.
Whether you crave the thrill of competition, the cultivation of deeper connections, or the tranquility of mindful creation, SnapKu invites you to craft your own experience.
It forces us to be fully present, it's good for our brains (and I swear playing helps lower my blood pressure!), and it's so much FUN!
SnapKu is excellent for game nights and date nights (including first dates - a great way to determine if your first date is worthy of a second - Lol!), icebreakers, and more. Think you know the folks you're playing with? Think again! You never know how the conversation will turn, and we can ensure that no matter how many times you play, you'll never have the same experience.
